On Friday 10th June, 4 of the UK employees and 1 employee from the Netherlands will set off on a 180 mile charity bike ride.
The bike ride begins at the ABAX Stadium in Peterborough, and will finish at the Ajax Arena in Amsterdam.
They will be biking from Peterborough to Hull on day one, taking the overnight ferry on Friday night to Rotterdam. Saturday involves biking from Rotterdam to Amsterdam. Keep an eye out for the blue and white shirts!
The bike ride is in aid of a Peterborough based charity called Free Kicks Foundation. This charity raises money for football-related activities for ill, bereaved and disadvantaged children, to give them a day to remember with their favourite football club.
ABAX employees involved: Chris Miller, Matt Walsh, Guy Sharpe, Asif Rashid and Martijn Zewald.
Chris Miller, UK CEO said: "It is a great personal challenge, considering none of us actually owned a bike before Christmas. 6 hard months of training through the winter have prepared us fairly well for the ride. Although not as experienced as other FreeKicks riders, we have put in 1000’s of miles training to get our bodies ready.
As we now pack our bags in preparation for the ride, passports included, we know that the majority of the hard work is behind us. There is no doubt that the 110 miles to Hull will be tough, especially with a time limit to get to the Ferry port. We all know that the 2nd day will start with some sore legs and backs being hauled back onto bikes for the final 70 miles. However, we can take a lot of motivation from the fact that ABAX2Ajax has raised £10000 so far for such a wonderful charity."
