The relationship with vehicle telematics specialist ABAX will play a key role in China Mobile’s transformation into a full digital service provider.
The partnership will be knowledge based, with ABAX delivering telematics solutions and technical expertise to support China Mobile in the country’s rapidly developing Internet of Things (IOT) and connected car market.
China Mobile is the world's largest mobile phone operator by subscribers with around 845 million; and the deal follows the opening of ABAX’s first office in China earlier in 2016.
Petter Quinsgaard, ABAX Group Chief Executive, said: "We are honoured and proud of this new partnership deal with China Mobile Ltd. This move sends strong signals to the international market of the position ABAX has acquired. It demonstrates both strength of our technology and of our brand."
The new deal was signed at the China Mobile IOT event in Shanghai on December 16th 2016. ABAX was invited to join this event, hosted by China Mobile Ltd, along with a number of key players in the Chinese telecommunications and telematics market including Huawei, Vodafone, and Sony Ericsson.
Anfinn Hammer Feng, ABAX China Ltd’s Chief Executive, added: "The Internet of Things market in China is growing and the ABAX technology will play an important role in creating new and high quality solutions for the Chinese market."
ABAX specialises in technology including Triplog mileage capture and fleet management software. As well as China, ABAX operates in the UK, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Poland and the Netherlands.
Chris Miller, ABAX UK Chief Executive, added: "Industries are redesigning their business models and processes around the concept of Internet of Things and this is where ABAX will be partnering with China Mobile Ltd to knowledge share and drive productivity growth. There is huge potential, not only in China but across the world."
