ABAX STADIUM – TWO YEARS ON

-
Tonight’s game against Scunthorpe United marks two years of fixtures at the ABAX Stadium.

If you look towards the Motorpoint Stand you will see a row of windows above the stadium seats. On the other side of these panes of glass are the ABAX offices, the new home to the vehicle technology and football club partner since January 2016.

ABAX relocated to the Allia Future Business Centre, the name of the centre at the ABAX Stadium, to take advantage of the extra space and the excellent facilities. The move came after ABAX strengthened its UK workforce to more than 50 people, with space for further expansion, as the company focused on extending its activity across the UK.

The move also allowed ABAX to be closer to Peterborough United, the club they agreed an initial five-year partnership with in November 2014.

The second year of the partnership has seen ABAX forge closer ties with the Posh, not least through substantial television coverage and linked commercial opportunities, with Peterborough United playing a handful of games live on Sky Sports and BBC.

Indeed, the sporting eyes of the nation were on the ABAX Stadium on the evening of Wednesday 10th February, as Posh were narrowly defeated on penalties by West Bromwich Albion in a FA Cup Fourth Round replay shown live on BBC1, a match presented by Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.

It was during this game that teenage loan sensation Martin Samuelson played a star role, and this certainly didn’t go unnoticed in Martin’s home country of Norway, which is also the land where ABAX originated from. Martin has since gone on to achieve full international honours for Norway and recently scored his first goal.

The Peterborough United under 9  through to under 12 football teams are now proudly sponsored by ABAX.

ABAX also has a regular table in the sponsor’s area and employees host customers at every home game. The company was the match day sponsor for the game against Coventry City on Good Friday with Peterborough United running out winners by 3 goals to 1.

ABAX Chief Executive, Chris Miller, said: “It has been a busy and productive year for ABAX in Peterborough and the move to the ABAX Stadium has really put us at the heart of the city.

“We have all really enjoyed the ongoing partnership with Peterborough United and the 2016/17 season has got off to good start with Grant McCann’s Posh never far from the play off positions. Let’s hope the club’s success continues for the remainder of the season."

Away from the pitch, ABAX was highly commended in the ‘Employer of the Year’ category at the 2015 Peterborough Telegraph Business Awards.

A team of five, including Chris Miller, were part of a group of cyclists who pedalled from the ABAX Stadium to Ajax, in Amsterdam, to raise more than £10,000 for the Free Kicks Foundation children’s charity. A great team effort.

The ABAX team also used the ABAX Stadium footbal pitch to raise money for Sport Relief 2016, by completing a sponsored 8 hour run around the pitch in March.

Industry wise, ABAX works with businesses who need help with their vehicle fleet management - for example logging trips and employee expenses.

The company currently operates in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, China and the UK, and was recently named by research specialists Berg Insight as Europe’s fastest growing telematics company earlier.
